Northleach is reknowned for its impressive 15th Church of St. Peter's and St. Paul's, commonly referred to as the Cathedral of the Cotswolds. The church which dominates all aspects of the old wool town was built by wealthy wool merchants. The stone used to construct the church was dug from the town's quarry, which is now more commonly known as the market square. Northleach was once a great market town well known across Europe for the Cotswold wool trade.
